Privacy Policy

The short version: we do not ask you to make an account, we do not run ad networks, and we do not sell anything about you. We do use Google Analytics, and the retailers we link to set their own cookies so they know a sale came from here.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser and receives your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type, the pages you open, and how you arrived. We use it in aggregate. We never try to work out who an individual visitor is, and we have not enabled Google's advertising or remarketing features.

To opt out, block cookies for this site in your browser, use private browsing, or install Google's own Analytics opt-out extension. The site works normally either way.

Affiliate links and the retailers they lead to

Links to retailers on this site are affiliate links. Today the only live affiliate relationship is the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If retailer programmes run through CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction) are added, this section will say so. When you follow an affiliate link, the retailer or its network sets a cookie so that a purchase you make afterwards is credited to this site, and we earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

What those cookies record, how long they last, and what the retailer does with them is governed by that company's privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive your name, address, payment details, or a list of what you bought. We are told only that a sale of a certain value happened. You can read what CJ Affiliate collects in their services privacy policy and what Amazon collects in the Amazon privacy notice.

Our own click counter

Outbound retailer links pass through a redirect on this domain so we can count clicks, because analytics alone misses most of them. For each click we store the date, which page it came from, what kind of link it was, the country your request came from, and a shortened browser identification string. We do not store your IP address, and we do not set a cookie to do this. The records are counts, and they cannot be traced back to a person.

Things your browser stores for you

Your wishlist and cart are kept in your own browser's local storage. They stay on your device, they are never sent to us, and clearing your browser data deletes them.

The newsletter

The signup box does not send your address to a server. It opens a message in your own email program, addressed to us, which you choose to send or not. If you send it, your address sits in our inbox and is used only to send the newsletter. Ask us to remove it and it is removed.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent, or trade information about visitors. We do not run advertising networks or third-party ad trackers. We do not require an account. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 16.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Because we hold no accounts and no profiles, in practice the only personal information we are likely to hold is a newsletter address you sent us. Write to the address above and we will act on it. For the data Google or a retailer holds, their own policies and controls apply.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. The date reflects the last time the page was reviewed against the site's actual code, not merely reworded.
