Why are Rolex prices on Amazon different from the retail price?
Because every Rolex on Amazon is pre-owned, so its price is set by the secondary market rather than Rolex’s list price. Models that are hard to get new at a retailer often trade above list price, while many others trade below it, and the reseller’s price also includes its authentication, grading and returns.
Two markets, two prices
Rolex sets a retail list price for new watches sold by its Official Rolex Retailers. Demand for some references is far higher than supply at those retailers, so buyers who do not want to wait pay more for the same watch on the secondary market.
