Blancpain · Villeret · Quantième Complet 8 Jours · Ref 6639A-3631-55B · new on Amazon

Eight days of reserve, a full calendar, and an enamel dial.

Blancpain’s complete calendar in its grandest form: a 42mm red gold Villeret with a white grand feu enamel dial, the day and month in windows, the date on a blued serpentine hand, a moonphase at six, and calibre 6639A with three barrels that runs eight days on a wind. The correctors hide under the lugs. New from an independent dealer through Amazon; the most expensive Blancpain on this site.

Grand feu

An enamel dial is glass powder fired onto a metal disc at around 800 degrees, layer by layer, and the numerals are painted and fired again; a flaw at any stage means starting over. Blancpain makes these in-house, and the white enamel Villeret with its painted Arabic numerals is the reference that shows the craft best. It does not yellow, fade or scratch the way a lacquered dial does.

Under it is calibre 6639A: three mainspring barrels in series for an eight-day reserve, a silicon balance spring, and a complete calendar with a moonphase, corrected through the under-lug pushers Blancpain uses so the case stays clean.

What eight days buys you

A complete calendar needs correcting at the end of short months; a watch that stops between wears needs correcting every time you pick it up. Eight days of reserve means the Villeret can sit for a working week and still be right, which is the point of pairing the two complications.

Every figure here comes from the Amazon spec table where it is right and from Blancpain’s published specification for the reference, not from handling the watch. Thirty metres of water resistance is the honest rating for an enamel-dial dress watch.

Buying it new on Amazon

This unit is listed new by an independent dealer through Amazon, with Amazon’s return window on top of the dealer’s warranty; read the seller and warranty lines on the listing, because Blancpain’s own warranty runs from an authorised sale.

Gold Blancpain dress watches resell below their retail price on the secondary market, which is why dealer stock sits on Amazon under boutique retail. Buy it for the dial. Nothing here is investment advice.
