Blancpain · Villeret · Quantième Complet · Ref 6654-3640-55B · new on Amazon

Day, date, month and the moon, from the oldest name in watches.

Blancpain has made watches since 1735 and has never made a quartz one. The Villeret complete calendar is its signature dress piece: a 40mm red gold case with the double-stepped bezel, a blue sunburst dial with the day and month in windows, the date read by a serpentine hand, a moonphase at six, and the correctors hidden under the lugs so nothing spoils the case. New from an independent dealer through Amazon.

A complete calendar, not a perpetual one

A complete calendar shows the day, the date, the month and the moon, and needs correcting five times a year at the end of the short months. A perpetual calendar corrects itself and costs several times more. The complete calendar is the sensible one, and Blancpain has built the Villeret version around it since the 1980s.

Blancpain’s answer to the ugly corrector buttons most calendar watches carry is to hide them under the lugs, where a fingertip finds them. The serpentine blued hand points at the date on the outer track; the moon at six is the one that makes people ask what it is.

Red gold, blue dial

The 6654 comes in steel and in gold; this is the red gold case with the blue sunburst dial and a blue alligator strap, which is the combination Blancpain added to the line in 2021. At 40mm it is a full-sized dress watch, and 100 metres of water resistance is unusual for one.

Every figure here comes from the Amazon spec table and Blancpain’s published specification for the reference, not from handling the watch.

Buying it new on Amazon

This unit is listed new by an independent dealer through Amazon, with Amazon’s 30-day return window on top of the dealer’s warranty; read the warranty line on the listing, because Blancpain’s own warranty runs from an authorised sale.

Gold Blancpain dress watches resell below their retail price on the secondary market, which is why dealer stock sits on Amazon under boutique retail. Buy it for the calendar and the case. Nothing here is investment advice.

Verdict

Blancpain’s complete calendar with a moonphase in red gold with a blue dial, 72 hours of reserve, new from a dealer.

Strengths

  • Day, date, month and moonphase on one clean dial
  • Correctors hidden under the lugs; a 72-hour reserve
  • 100m on a gold dress watch
  • New, with Amazon’s return window

Trade-offs

  • Gold Blancpains resell below retail
  • A complete calendar needs setting after short months
  • Dealer warranty, not Blancpain’s from purchase
  • 40mm reads large for a dress watch on a small wrist

Buy it if

Someone who wants a full calendar and a moonphase from an old house without paying perpetual-calendar money.

Skip it if

You want a perpetual calendar, steel, or resale value.

FAQ

French for complete calendar: day, date and month, here with a moonphase as well. It needs a correction at the end of months shorter than 31 days, unlike a perpetual calendar.
