A mechanical flieger for the price of a strap.

The pilot-watch look is a set of rules older than most brands that use it: a dark dial, oversized Arabic numerals, a triangle at twelve so the wrist can be read upside down, and a strap long enough for a jacket sleeve. The Boyarca follows every one of them.

It adds a date window at three o’clock, which purists dislike and everyone else uses. The hands are slim batons in a dark blue tone against white numerals, so the dial reads at arm’s length.

The listing says Japanese automatic and stops there. In this price bracket that phrase almost always means a mass-produced Miyota or Seiko-family calibre, but Boyarca does not say which, so this page does not either.

What is documented is the exhibition caseback. You can see the rotor spin, which for a first mechanical watch is most of the pleasure. What you cannot see is a spec sheet: no stated accuracy, no power reserve, no jewel count.

For the cost of a decent leather strap on a Swiss pilot watch, the Boyarca delivers the whole watch: steel case, mechanical movement, leather strap, lume. That is the entire argument for it.

Against it: no manufacturer, no published water resistance, no serviceable calibre name and a case size that only Amazon vouches for. If it runs well it is a bargain. If it does not, there is nobody to send it back to but the marketplace.
