Breguet · Classique · Ref 7137BA/11/9V6 · new on Amazon

The dial every other dress watch is copying.

Hand-engraved guilloché in three patterns, an off-centre chapter ring, a moonphase at two, a power reserve at ten, small seconds at five, blued Breguet hands with their hollow moons, and a coin-edge case in yellow gold. The 7137 is the reference that shows what Breguet is, and it is the most expensive watch on this site. New from an independent dealer through Amazon.

What Breguet invented

Abraham-Louis Breguet, working in Paris from 1775, invented the tourbillon, the pare-chute shock absorber, the gong spring for repeaters, and the hands and numerals that still carry his name. His clients were Marie Antoinette, Napoleon and the Tsar. The modern house belongs to Swatch Group and makes the Classique line as the direct descendant of those pocket watches.

The 7137 puts most of the Breguet vocabulary on one dial: engine-turned guilloché cut on antique rose engines, the secret signature, the off-centre hours, the moonphase with its starry sky, and a power reserve sector. Inside is the ultra-thin calibre 502.3 with a peripheral-style off-centre rotor, so the case stays slim.

Brown or black

The Amazon table says a black band; the listing photograph shows a brown alligator strap. Breguet ships the 7137 on either, and the dealer’s photograph is the better guide to what is in the box, so read the strap colour from the photo and ask the dealer if it matters.

Every figure here comes from the Amazon spec table and Breguet’s published specification for the reference, not from handling the watch. Thirty metres of water resistance is normal for a thin gold dress watch; it lives indoors.

Buying it new on Amazon

This unit is listed new by an independent dealer through Amazon, with Amazon’s 30-day return window on top of the dealer’s warranty; read the warranty line on the listing, because Breguet’s own warranty runs from an authorised sale.

Gold Breguet dress watches resell below their retail price on the secondary market, which is why a dealer can list one on Amazon below boutique retail. Buy it because it is the most beautiful dial on this site. Nothing here is investment advice.

FAQ

It shows the time on an off-centre dial with small seconds at five, the phase of the moon at two, and the remaining power reserve at ten, all on a hand-engraved guilloché dial. The movement is Breguet’s ultra-thin automatic calibre 502.3.
