The Marine line takes its name from Breguet’s 1815 appointment as chronometer-maker to the French navy, and the Dual Time is its travel complication: a second hour hand for home time in the sub-dial at three, with its own day-and-night disc so you know whether to call. The date sits in a window at six, and the whole dial is engine-turned by hand on a rose engine before it is finished in slate.

This is the generation Breguet made through the 2010s, before the 2017 redesign with the wave dial; it is the one with the heavier case, the screwed lugs and the bolder Roman numerals, and it is the reason dealers still have new ones.

Breguet fitted the Marine with a textured rubber strap long before the rest of Geneva did, and on this reference the rubber is the point: a gold watch that can get wet. The Amazon table says bracelet and hand-wind; the 5ZU suffix is the rubber strap the photograph shows, and the 517F is automatic, so read the reference rather than the table.
