The Navitimer of 1952 was built for pilots who did their own navigation: the bezel turns a circular slide rule against the dial so you can multiply, divide, convert units and work out fuel burn without a calculator. Almost nobody uses it for that now, but the beaded bezel and the two rings of tiny numbers are the most recognisable face in pilot’s watches, and they are why the Navitimer is the Breitling people search for.

The current B01 Chronograph 43 puts Breitling’s own calibre 01 inside: a column-wheel, vertical-clutch automatic chronograph with about 70 hours of reserve and a COSC certificate, visible through a sapphire caseback. The case is 43mm and 14.22mm thick with 22mm lugs, and the water resistance is 30 metres, which is the one place the Navitimer stays true to 1952: it is not a watch to swim in. On the brown alligator strap the blue dial reads as a dress chronograph rather than an instrument, and the 20mm strap end takes any strap you like later.

The listing carries the full reference, AB0121211C1P2, in the title and the model row, and calls it an automatic chronometer with a blue dial; the description repeats the title. The photograph shows the beaded bezel, the blue dial with black counters, the date and the brown alligator strap. The case size, thickness, lug width, calibre 01, its COSC certification, the reserve, the 30 metres, the sapphire caseback and the strap are Breitling’s published figures for the reference.

The dealer is Luxor Watches, a marketplace dealer, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Breitling’s five-year warranty; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.
