Franck Muller · Vanguard · V 45 · chronograph · rose gold · on Amazon

The modern Franck Muller, in solid rose gold.

Vanguard is what Franck Muller did with its curved tonneau in the 2010s: the same barrel bowed to the wrist, but with a flat bezel, a rubber-backed strap that runs into the case and numerals that are applied rather than printed, filled with luminous paint and stretched to fit the curve. The V 45 chronograph is the big one, about 44 by 54mm, here in 18k rose gold with a dark brown dial, two counters, a date at six and a tachymeter, on a brown alligator strap. Sold on Amazon by an independent dealer.

Cintrée Curvex, then Vanguard

Franck Muller built the company on the Cintrée Curvex, the curved barrel with printed art-deco numerals. Vanguard, launched in 2013, is the same barrel restated for a sportier buyer: the bezel is flat and wide, the numerals are cut from metal, applied to the dial and filled with luminous paint, the strap is alligator bonded to rubber and it enters the case through a slot instead of hanging from lugs. The shape still bows to the wrist, and the numerals still stretch to follow it.

The V 45 chronograph carries Franck Muller’s FM 7000, a decorated Valjoux 7750, so the layout is the 7750 layout: running seconds at nine, thirty-minute counter at three, date at six, with a tachymeter around the edge. In rose gold with a brown dial the whole watch is one warm colour, broken only by the cream luminous fill and the white rings of the counters.

Reading the listing

The title carries the specification: Vanguard, Swiss automatic chronograph, brown dial, rose gold luminous hands, date, sapphire crystal, brown leather strap, 18k rose gold. The Amazon rows carry weight and a dealer model code and nothing else; the description is a paragraph of brand history. The photograph matches the title. The dimensions, calibre and reserve here are Franck Muller’s published figures for the V 45 chronograph, not the dealer’s.

Whether the watch is new with Franck Muller’s warranty is not stated in the rows we read; ask, and ask for the box and papers. Every figure here comes from the listing and from Franck Muller’s published description, not from handling the watch.

Buying it on Amazon

This is a regular Amazon listing from an independent dealer, Luxor Watches on the day we read it, with Amazon’s 30-day return window; it is not a Luxury Stores pre-owned unit. The second button opens the live search for Vanguard chronographs in case this one has sold.

Franck Muller Vanguards have resold for well under new and close to what pre-owned buyers paid, sometimes more, sometimes less; that is a pattern, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.

Verdict

A rose gold Vanguard V 45 chronograph on Amazon from a dealer: Franck Muller’s modern barrel in solid gold, for someone who wants the shape without the vintage numerals.
