Franck Muller · Vanguard · V 45 SC · rose gold · brown dial · on Amazon

The Vanguard with nothing on the dial but the numerals.

Franck Muller’s Vanguard is the curved tonneau with a flat bezel and numerals cut from metal, filled with luminous paint and stretched to follow the case. The V 45 SC is the plain one: no chronograph, no subdials, all twelve numerals in a ring, a date at six and a compass bearing scale around the edge. This one has a brown dial in a rose gold case on a brown alligator strap. The title calls it both stainless steel and 18k rose gold; the photograph and the dealer’s code say gold, and the copy below says to ask. Sold on Amazon by an independent dealer.

Twelve numerals and a barrel

The Vanguard case is Franck Muller’s Cintrée Curvex with the corners squared off: a barrel bowed along its length, a wide flat bezel, and a strap that enters the case through a slot so the watch and the strap read as one piece. On the chronograph versions the subdials interrupt the ring of numerals; on the SC there is nothing in the way, and the numerals, applied and outlined in gold with luminous fill, run 1 to 12 around the curve with the date cut into the bottom.

The bearing ring, north at twelve and the degrees marked out to the edge, is the dial furniture Franck Muller uses on its Yachting models, here on a brown sunray dial. The movement is the FM 2800, a decorated ETA 2892 automatic; nothing exotic, which is why an SC costs less than a chronograph in the same case.

Reading the listing

The title is the specification, and it contradicts itself on the case metal: it says both stainless steel and 18K rose gold. The photograph shows a gold-coloured case front and back, and the dealer’s model code carries GLD, so rose gold is the likelier reading, but at this price you should ask the dealer in writing whether the case is solid 18k and not plated steel before buying. The Amazon rows carry weight and the dealer code only; the description is a paragraph of brand history.

Whether the watch is new with Franck Muller’s warranty is not stated in the rows we read; ask, and ask for the box and papers. Every figure here comes from the listing and from Franck Muller’s published description of the V 45 automatic, not from handling the watch.

Buying it on Amazon

This is a regular Amazon listing from an independent dealer, Luxor Watches on the day we read it, with Amazon’s 30-day return window; it is not a Luxury Stores pre-owned unit. The second button opens the live search for rose gold Vanguards in case this one has sold.

Franck Muller Vanguards have resold for well under new and close to what pre-owned buyers paid, sometimes more, sometimes less; that is a pattern, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.

Verdict

A rose gold Vanguard time-and-date with a brown dial, on Amazon from a dealer: the Franck Muller shape with the cleanest dial it comes in, and one question about the metal to settle first.

Strengths

  • The Vanguard tonneau with an uninterrupted ring of luminous numerals
  • Rose gold and brown, one warm colour on the wrist
  • Simpler movement than the chronographs, and cheaper for it
  • Amazon’s return window on a dealer listing

Trade-offs

  • Title says both steel and rose gold; confirm the case metal in writing
  • About 44 by 54mm; a very large watch
  • Condition and warranty not stated; ask
  • 30 metres; a dress watch

Buy it if

Someone who wants the Franck Muller barrel in gold without paying for a chronograph, and will confirm the metal before clicking.

Skip it if

You want a watch under 42mm, or a listing that states its own case metal clearly.

FAQ

The title says both. The photograph shows a gold-coloured case and the dealer code carries GLD, so rose gold is the likelier reading, but ask the dealer in writing whether the case is solid 18k before buying.
