Glashütte Original introduced the off-centre dial in the late 1990s and has built its dress line on it since. The idea is to give each function its own place instead of stacking them: the time on a subsidiary dial at upper left, the small seconds tucked under it, and the big date, two discs turning on one plane so the digits sit flush in a single window, at lower right. The moon phase on the PanoMaticLunar fills the last corner, upper right, with a silver moon on a blue field.

The movement is the part you turn the watch over for. The 90-02 has Glashütte’s three-quarter plate, a skeletonised rotor with a gold oscillating weight, blued screws, and a balance cock engraved by hand under a duplex swan-neck regulator. The green dial is the recent colour; the silver and blue ones are the classics, and the green is the one people stop you for.
