The chronograph that shows you its column wheel.
Hublot’s in-house flyback chronograph in the 42mm Big Bang case: a sandwich of titanium and black composite held by six H screws, a skeletonised dial with the column wheel and clutch on show, 72 hours of reserve, and the structured rubber strap that swaps with one click. New from an independent dealer through Amazon.

What Unico means
Unico is Hublot’s own chronograph movement, introduced in 2013 so the brand would stop buying chronographs in. The HUB1280 is its second generation: thinner, with a 72-hour reserve, a flyback function that resets and restarts with one press, and the column wheel turned to face the dial so you can watch it work.
The 42mm case arrived in 2020 as the size between the original 44 and the 39; Hublot calls the construction a sandwich, because the bezel, case and back are separate layers screwed together through the six H-shaped screws that define the Big Bang.

Titanium, rubber, one click
Titanium keeps a 42mm chronograph light on the wrist, and the structured rubber strap is the one Hublot pioneered with the original Big Bang in 2005. The One Click system releases it without tools, and Hublot sells alternative straps that fit the same lugs.
Every figure here is Hublot’s published specification for the reference; the Amazon spec table says only that it is automatic with a black band, so match the reference number in the title before you buy.

Buying it new on Amazon
This unit is listed new by an independent dealer through Amazon, with Amazon’s return window on top of whatever warranty the dealer states on the listing; Hublot’s own warranty runs from an authorised sale, so read that line.
Hublot is bought to be worn, not resold. Modern Hublots trade below their retail price on the secondary market, and dealer stock on Amazon usually sits under boutique retail for that reason. Nothing here is investment advice.

Verdict
Hublot’s in-house flyback chronograph in the mid-size titanium Big Bang, new from a dealer, for someone who wants the mechanism on show.
Strengths
- In-house HUB1280 flyback with the column wheel visible
- 72-hour reserve, 100m, sapphire front and back
- 42mm titanium; the wearable Big Bang size
- One Click strap change, new with Amazon’s return window
Trade-offs
- Hublot resale sits below retail
- Dealer warranty, not Hublot’s from purchase
- A loud watch; the skeleton dial is harder to read than a plain one
- The Amazon table confirms almost nothing; match the reference in the title
Buy it if
Someone who wants a modern in-house chronograph that looks like machinery and does not care what forums think of Hublot.
Skip it if
You want resale value or a dial you can read at a glance.
