Illustrative render — hero view of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial Master Chronometer 42mm 210.30.42.20.03.001 (steel, blue ceramic dial, steel bracelet)

Omega · Seamaster Diver 300M · 42mm · steel · blue · on Amazon

The blue Seamaster. The one people actually search for.

When someone types Omega Seamaster into Amazon, this is the watch they mean: the 2018 Diver 300M in steel with the blue ceramic wave dial, the blue ceramic bezel with its white enamel scale, skeleton hands, the date at six, the helium valve at ten, on the steel bracelet with the diver extension in the clasp. Inside is the calibre 8800, a Co-Axial Master Chronometer certified by METAS, with about 55 hours of reserve and 300 metres on the case. It was listed under Omega’s own price when we read it, from a marketplace dealer, and it is the most-rated Seamaster on Amazon.

The 2018 Seamaster, in its main colour

Omega rebuilt the Seamaster Diver 300M for its 25th anniversary in 2018 and gave it back the wave dial of the 1993 original, laser-engraved into polished ceramic this time so it never fades. The bezel insert is ceramic too, with the diving scale in white enamel, and the movement is the 8800, a Master Chronometer tested by METAS for accuracy and for resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The helium valve at ten kept its place and got a conical shape; the date moved to six.

Blue on steel is the version that carries the name. The black one is the same watch with a darker dial; the two-tone and gold ones are the same watch with more money on it. If you want the Seamaster that James Bond wore in the films of the last decade and that Omega puts in its own advertising, it is this reference.

Reading the listing

The listing carries the full reference, 210.30.42.20.03.001, in the title and the model row, and the dealer’s description lists the blue dial, steel case and bracelet, automatic movement, 300 metres, unidirectional bezel, a deployment clasp with push-button release and a 42mm case. The one figure that disagrees with Omega is the thickness: the dealer says 14mm, Omega publishes 13.56mm, and the copy here uses Omega’s. The calibre, its METAS certification, the reserve, the ceramic dial and bezel and the sapphire caseback are Omega’s published figures for the reference.

The seller is World Of Watches, a marketplace dealer, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Omega’s five-year warranty; ask, and ask for the box and card. It has 21 ratings on Amazon, more than any other Seamaster there when we read it, which says people are buying this one. Every figure here comes from the listing and from Omega’s published description, not from handling the watch.

Buying it on Amazon

This is a regular Amazon listing from a marketplace dealer with Amazon’s 30-day return window; it is not a Luxury Stores pre-owned unit and the dealer has not published a condition. It was listed under Omega’s own list price when we read it. The second button opens the live search for blue Seamaster Diver 300Ms in case this one has sold.

Seamaster Diver 300Ms have resold for under new and close to what pre-owned buyers paid, sometimes more, sometimes less; that is a pattern, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.

  • Full reference on the listing; Amazon’s return window

Trade-offs

  • Condition and warranty card not stated by the dealer; ask
  • Dealer’s thickness figure is wrong; expect 13.56mm
