The Big Blue. A GMT cut from one block of blue ceramic.

Omega launched the Big Blue in 2017 as the first watch with a case, bezel, dial and caseback all in blue ceramic, a colour that is harder to make than black because the pigments have to survive the sintering; the orange numerals on the bezel are rubber pressed into the ceramic, and the orange stitching on the strap picks them up. It is 45.5mm and 17.38mm thick, the same case as the Deep Black on this page, and at about 141 grams it is lighter than the steel Planet Ocean chronograph.

The 8906 is Omega’s GMT calibre for the Planet Ocean: the hour hand jumps in one-hour steps from the crown for a new time zone while the 24-hour hand holds home time against the dial’s scale, and the whole movement is Master Chronometer, meaning it passes METAS’s eight tests including 15,000 gauss after COSC. Sixty hours of reserve, 600 metres, and a helium valve for a watch most people will wear to the office. The seller’s rows say 200 metres and 15mm; Omega’s page says 600 metres and 17.38mm, and the dial in the photograph reads 600m.

The listing carries the reference 215.92.46.22.03.001 in the title and model row and calls it a 45.5mm automatic in a ceramic case on a rubber strap; its 200-metre and 15mm rows are wrong. The photograph shows the blue ceramic case and bezel with orange numerals, the blue dial with orange accents, the GMT hand and 24-hour scale, the date at three and the blue rubber strap. The thickness, lug width, lug to lug, weight, calibre, certification, reserve and 600 metres are Omega’s published figures for the reference.

The seller is MS-TR JAPAN, a marketplace seller, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Omega’s five-year warranty; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.
