The Deep Black with gold. The all-ceramic Planet Ocean GMT.

The Deep Black series of 2016 was the first Planet Ocean with a case made from a single block of zirconium oxide ceramic, bezel and caseback included, with the calibre 8906 GMT inside. Four versions launched: black, blue, red and this one, black with the bezel rim, crown and hands in Sedna gold, Omega’s rose-gold alloy that resists fading. The gold is what separates it from the Black Black Deep Black on price.

The 8906 is Omega’s GMT calibre for the Planet Ocean: the hour hand jumps in one-hour steps from the crown for a new time zone while the 24-hour hand holds home time against the dial’s scale, and the whole movement is Master Chronometer, meaning it passes METAS’s eight tests including 15,000 gauss after COSC. Sixty hours of reserve, 600 metres, and a helium valve for a watch most people will wear to the office. Omega has since replaced the Deep Black line, so this reference is marked no longer available on its site; the seller’s rows say 100 metres, which is a data-entry error, the description and Omega say 600.

The listing carries the reference 215.63.46.22.01.001 in the title and model row and calls it a 46mm automatic in a ceramic case on a rubber band; its 100-metre row is wrong. The photograph shows the black ceramic case, the gold bezel rim and scale, gold crown, the GMT hand and 24-hour scale, the date at three and the rubber-lined strap. The lug width, lug to lug, weight, calibre, certification, reserve and 600 metres are Omega’s published figures for the reference; Omega does not publish a thickness for it.

The seller is MS-TR JAPAN, a marketplace seller, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Omega’s five-year warranty; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.
