The moon, photographed

Omega’s ceramic Speedmasters take the Moonwatch shape, enlarge it to 44.25mm and make the whole case, bezel, pushers and crown from one colour of zirconium oxide ceramic, so nothing scratches and the watch weighs about 100 grams on a strap. Inside is a co-axial automatic chronograph rather than the hand-wound Moonwatch calibre, with the two counters of the 9300 family: hours and minutes together at three, small seconds at nine.

The Blue Side of the Moon adds the calibre 9904, the 9900 with a moonphase module: the moon disc at six carries a photographic image of the lunar surface, and the small-seconds counter at nine also carries a pointer date, so the dial keeps the two-counter layout. Everything is blue ceramic, case and bezel and dial, with a blue leather strap; Omega lists it at USD 15,700 and this dealer was under that when read.

Reading the listing

The listing carries the reference 304.93.44.52.03.001 in the title and model row and calls it a 44mm automatic Blue Side of the Moon. The photograph shows the blue ceramic case and bezel, the moonphase at six, the pointer date at nine and the blue strap. The 44.25mm size, thickness, lug width, lug to lug, weight, calibre 9904, METAS certification, reserve, 50 metres and list price are Omega’s published figures for the reference.

The dealer is Luxor Watches, a marketplace dealer, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Omega’s five-year warranty; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.

Buying it on Amazon

This is a regular Amazon listing from a marketplace seller with Amazon’s 30-day return window; it is not a Luxury Stores pre-owned unit and the seller has not published a condition. The second button opens the live search for ceramic Speedmasters in case this one has sold.

Speedmasters have resold for under new and close to what pre-owned buyers paid, sometimes more, sometimes less; that is a pattern, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.
