The moon, and the 9904
The Moonphase disc at six is printed from a photograph of the moon, with a footprint at the Sea of Tranquillity if you look with a loupe, and it turns under a window with a pointer hand for the date running around the same subdial. The calibre 9904 is the 9900 chronograph with the moonphase and pointer date added: column wheel, co-axial escapement, silicon balance spring, twin barrels for 60 hours, and Master Chronometer certification, so it has passed METAS’s tests to 15,000 gauss. The blue ceramic bezel carries the tachymeter in Liquidmetal.
At 44.25mm and 16.85mm it wears like the other Speedmaster automatics on this page, not like the hand-wound Moonwatch. The dealer has this reference under two ASINs at the same price; this page links the one with a rating. The rows say battery powered, which is a data-entry error; the watch is automatic.
Reading the listing
The listing carries the reference 304.33.44.52.03.001 in the title and model row and calls it a 44.25mm steel automatic with 100 metres on a blue leather strap with a folding clasp; its battery-powered row is wrong. The photograph shows the blue ceramic bezel, the blue dial with two counters and the moonphase with its pointer date, and the blue alligator strap. The thickness, lug width, lug to lug, weight, calibre, certification and reserve are Omega’s published figures for the reference.
