Omega builds the Speedmaster Moonphase in several metals and this is the yellow gold two-tone: the case body and caseback are steel, the bezel, pushers and crown are 18k yellow gold, and the tachymeter insert is a dark green ceramic with the scale in gold. The grey dial is sun-brushed so it shifts between silver and charcoal, and the gold hands and markers sit on it with less contrast than on the black version, which makes it the quieter watch despite the gold.

The mechanics are the same as every Moonphase: the calibre 9904, a column-wheel Co-Axial chronograph that also drives the pointer date at nine and the moonphase at six, where a photo-realistic moon carries a tiny astronaut’s footprint. It is certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS, which tests the finished watch for accuracy and for resistance to 15,000 gauss.
