Date versus Datejust
Rolex made two versions of its date watch for decades: the Datejust at 36mm and the Oyster Perpetual Date at 34mm. Same Oyster case construction, same fluted bezel option, same Cyclops, same calibre 3135 from 1988 on; the difference is two millimetres of case and the word on the dial. The Date was quietly dropped in the 2000s, which makes a solid gold one a slightly rarer thing than the equivalent Datejust.
The 15238 is the yellow gold reference with the fluted bezel. On a 6.5 to 7 inch wrist it wears the way a 36 did in the 1980s, which is to say correctly, and on the gold Oyster bracelet it is a lot of gold for a watch that reads as restrained.
