Everose, and why the chocolate dial
Everose is Rolex’s own pink gold alloy, introduced in 2005 with a little platinum in the mix so the colour does not fade to yellow as older rose golds did. On the Datejust 36 it goes on the parts that show: the fluted bezel, the crown and the centre links of the bracelet, with steel for the case and the outer links. Rolex calls the combination Everose Rolesor.
The chocolate dial arrived with it and has been the signature pairing since: a sunray brown that reads copper in daylight and near-black indoors, with batons and hands in the same rose gold as the bezel. It is warmer than a black dial and less obvious than a champagne one.
Which reference this is
Rebag does not give a reference. Two Datejust 36 references look like this: the 116231, made from 2005 to 2018 with the calibre 3135 and about 48 hours of reserve, and the 126231, made from 2018 with the calibre 3235, about 70 hours, and a slightly slimmer case. Both have the engraved rehaut the photograph shows. The clasp is the quickest tell: the 126231’s Oysterclasp has a longer, more sculpted cover. Ask the seller for the reference or the warranty card before buying; the price is much the same either way, but the movement is not.
The condition line says Very Good with minor scratches and wear to the case and bracelet, which is a worn watch rather than a polished one. Every figure here comes from the listing and from Rolex’s published description of the Datejust 36, not from handling the watch.
