The GMT-Master II 16713 that replaced it in 1989 has the calibre 3185, where the hour hand jumps independently, so you set the local hour without stopping the watch and the 24-hour hand keeps home time. Same 40mm two-tone case, same black insert with gold numerals, same Jubilee. The dial says which: GMT-Master, or GMT-Master II.

Either way it is the travel Rolex in gold and steel, from the period when the black bezel was the quiet choice against the brown-and-gold Root Beer. The lume on a watch this age has usually turned cream, and the listing photograph shows it warm. The Jubilee with the Oyster clasp is the period bracelet.

The seller gives two-tone, black, 40mm and the condition: Excellent, with light scratching to the crystal and case. The rows say made in Switzerland and Oyster clasp closure. The photograph confirms the gold bezel with its black insert, the gold-surround markers, the 24-hour hand, the Cyclops date and the two-tone Jubilee. No reference, and no box or papers are mentioned, so assume neither and ask.

The calibre, reserve and production years here are Rolex’s published figures for the two references this watch can be, not measured on this unit. Ask the seller for the reference and the serial, when it was last serviced, and whether the bezel insert and lume are original.
