The Rolex underneath every Rolex

Oyster is the waterproof case from 1926. Perpetual is the self-winding rotor from 1931. Every Submariner, Datejust and Daytona is an Oyster Perpetual with something added. This is the one with nothing added: time, a screw-down crown, a bracelet, and a dial that is all markers and no windows.

The 3230 is the time-only version of the movement in the Datejust and Submariner: Chronergy escapement, Parachrom hairspring, about 70 hours of reserve, and Rolex’s -2/+2 seconds a day standard after casing. With no date to set, the crown does two things and the watch is set in ten seconds.
