A field watch has a job: tell the time fast, in any light, on a wrist that is doing something else. The Scout follows the pattern. Arabic numerals at every hour, a smaller 24-hour ring inside them, lumed baton hands, and nothing on the dial that does not help you read it.

The case is brass with a matte gunmetal finish, 40mm across and about 11mm thick, on 20mm lugs. The strap is distressed brown leather with cream stitching. The reference on this page is the leather-strap version; Timex also sells the same watch on fabric.

Indiglo is Timex’s electroluminescent backlight. Press the crown and the whole dial glows evenly, so you read the hands against a lit background rather than hunting for lume dots. The hands and numerals are lumed as well for the moments between presses.

It runs on a quartz movement and a CR2016 battery. There is no caliber name to quote and no power reserve; it runs until the cell is changed.

Timex rates the Scout at 50m. That covers rain, a creek crossing and the shower. It is not a swimming watch and Timex does not describe it as one.
