Tudor · Black Bay 41 · burgundy · METAS Master Chronometer · on Amazon

The current Black Bay. Burgundy bezel, METAS movement.

This is the Black Bay as Tudor makes it now: the 2023 41mm case, slimmer at 13.6mm than the old one, a burgundy aluminium bezel, a black domed dial with gilt-rimmed lumed markers and the snowflake hand, no date, and a three-link steel bracelet closed by the T-fit clasp with its tool-free adjustment. Inside is the manufacture MT5602-U, the first Black Bay movement certified both by COSC and as a Master Chronometer by METAS, which tests the finished watch for accuracy, magnetism, water resistance and reserve; about 70 hours, 200 metres. Sold on Amazon by a marketplace seller, listed under Tudor’s own price when we read it.

What changed in 2023

Tudor rebuilt the 41mm Black Bay in 2023 and kept the name. The case lost more than a millimetre of thickness, the lugs went to 21mm, the bracelet gained the T-fit clasp with five positions of quick adjustment, and the movement became the MT5602-U, which is the old MT5602 with a silicon balance spring, tested by METAS as a Master Chronometer on top of its COSC certificate. That means the finished watch, not just the movement, passed tests for accuracy, resistance to 15,000 gauss, water resistance and reserve.

The burgundy bezel is the original Black Bay colour from 2012, and the gilt-rimmed markers and snowflake hand are the same. No date, as always on this model. It is the Black Bay for someone who wants the full-size watch with the newest movement.

Reading the listing

The listing carries the full reference, M7941A1A0RU-0001, in the title and the model row, and calls it an automatic chronometer with a black dial. The photograph shows the burgundy bezel, the gilt-rimmed markers, the snowflake hand, no date and the three-link bracelet. The case size, thickness, lug width, calibre, its COSC and METAS certifications, reserve, 200 metres and the T-fit clasp are Tudor’s published figures for the reference.

The seller is Watchsavings, a marketplace seller, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Tudor’s five-year guarantee; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.

Buying it on Amazon

This is a regular Amazon listing from a marketplace seller with Amazon’s 30-day return window; it is not a Luxury Stores pre-owned unit and the seller has not published a condition. The second button opens the live search for burgundy Black Bays in case this one has sold.

Black Bays have resold for under new and close to what pre-owned buyers paid, sometimes more, sometimes less; that is a pattern, not a promise, and nothing here is investment advice.

FAQ

METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, tests the finished watch rather than the bare movement: accuracy of 0 to +5 seconds a day, resistance to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss, water resistance and power reserve. The MT5602-U also carries a COSC certificate.
