The Black Bay 54 is that watch rebuilt: 37mm and only 11.2mm thick, a black bezel with numerals but no minute marks, a black domed dial with gilt-rimmed markers and the snowflake hand, no date, a big screw-down crown without guards, and a three-link steel bracelet closed by Tudor’s T-fit clasp with its quick adjustment. Inside is the manufacture MT5400, a COSC chronometer with about 70 hours of reserve, and the case is rated to 200 metres. The Black Bay 58 is 39mm and nods to 1958. The 54 goes two millimetres smaller and four years earlier, to the very first Tudor Submariner, and it copies that watch’s odd details: a bezel with only the numerals and a triangle, no minute track between them, a domed dial, a big crown with no guards and a thin case. At 11.2mm it is the thinnest Black Bay, and on a bracelet with the T-fit clasp it can be let out or taken in a few millimetres without tools.

The movement is the MT5400, Tudor’s in-house three-hander sized for the smaller case, with a silicon balance spring, a COSC certificate and about 70 hours of reserve. No date, which is correct for the watch it copies.
