Tudor’s Pepsi. A real traveller’s GMT for a third of the Rolex.

There are two kinds of GMT watch. In the cheaper kind the 24-hour hand is the one you set independently, which is fine for checking home time. In the Black Bay GMT, like the Rolex it resembles, the local hour hand jumps in one-hour steps without stopping the watch, so when you land you click the hour forward and the date follows. That is the MT5652, Tudor’s own movement, with a silicon balance spring, a COSC certificate and about 70 hours of reserve.

The bezel is the Pepsi: burgundy for the day hours, blue for the night, in matt anodised aluminium on a 48-click bidirectional ring. The case is the 41mm Black Bay case at 14.6mm thick, so it is a substantial watch, and the riveted bracelet is the vintage-style one.

The listing carries the full reference, M79830RB-0001, in the title; the model row just says Heritage Black Bay. The photograph shows the two-colour bezel, the snowflake hand, the red-tipped 24-hour hand, the date at three and the riveted bracelet. The case size, thickness, lug width, calibre, its jumping hour hand, COSC certification, reserve, 200 metres and the bezel construction are Tudor’s published figures for the reference.

The seller is MS-TR JAPAN, a marketplace seller shipping from Japan with two left when we read it, and the rows we read do not state whether the watch is new with Tudor’s five-year guarantee; ask, and ask for the box and card. Nothing here was measured on the watch.
