The Black Bay 79230N. The first in-house Black Bay, one left.
This is the Black Bay that started Tudor’s in-house era: reference 79230N, the 41mm Heritage Black Bay Tudor made from 2016 to 2023, in steel with a black anodised bezel and the red triangle at twelve, a black domed dial with gilt-edged luminous markers and the snowflake hands, no date, 200 metres, on the riveted steel bracelet. Inside is the manufacture MT5602, a COSC chronometer with about 70 hours of reserve. Discontinued and replaced by the Black Bay 41 with a METAS calibre, so this is the last of the original layout. One left on Amazon from a marketplace seller with two five-star ratings; the seller’s rows call it hand-wound and 12mm thick, both wrong, and the copy says so.

Why the 79230N matters
Tudor’s first Black Bays, the 79220 series, ran an ETA movement; in 2016 the 79230 series put Tudor’s own MT5602 inside, added the riveted bracelet, and kept the black, burgundy and blue bezels. That generation ran until 2023, when the Black Bay 41 with the METAS-certified MT5602-U replaced it. The 79230N is the black-bezel version: the plainest, and to many people the best-looking, of the three. The reference is discontinued and no longer on tudorwatch.com, so the calibre, COSC certificate, reserve, lug width and 200 metres are Tudor’s figures as published when it was current, and the copy states no thickness.
With only one unit and two five-star ratings, this is a single watch, not a stocked line; ask the seller about condition before paying.
