For most of its modern life the Marine Chronograph ran on a modified supplier movement. In 2012 Ulysse Nardin replaced it with the UN-150, a chronograph designed and built in-house with a column wheel, a silicon escapement and a silicon balance spring, and put Manufacture in the model name to say so. The silicon parts are the company’s thing: it was the first to use silicon in a series watch, in 2001, and every UN-150 is certified as a chronometer by COSC.

The case is the Marine of the 2010s: 43mm, a fluted bezel you can grip, a crown guard with the blue crown between its shoulders, and a display back for the movement. The metallic blue dial with applied numerals is the classic Marine face; the three counters and the date at half past four are the chronograph’s additions.
