The DW-5600 square is the reference model: module 3229, 200 m water resistance, and the shape every other G-Shock descends from. If you want to never change a battery, the GW-M5610U keeps the square and adds Tough Solar and radio-controlled timekeeping. If you want the current-fashion G-Shock, the GA-B2100 "CasiOak" adds Tough Solar and Bluetooth in an octagonal case.
Every G-Shock on this list is rated 200 m (20 ATM) by Casio. That covers swimming and recreational diving; the specification line on each card gives the rating.
Tough Solar models charge from light and Casio quotes months of running in darkness, which removes the battery change entirely. Battery models such as the DW-5600 are cheaper and Casio quotes a battery life measured in years. The list marks the power source on each card.
