Why 200 metres
Every resin Pro Trek on this site is rated to 100m. The PRW-3500 doubles that to 200m, which moves it from swimming into the territory of surface water sports, boat decks and long immersion. It is the answer to the most common complaint about the range.
The rating comes with the usual Pro Trek kit: a compass, a barometer and altimeter, a thermometer, and a Full-Auto backlight that lights the LCD when the wrist is tilted in the dark.
Titanium, and 128 grams
The -7 suffix is the titanium-bracelet version. Titanium is lighter than steel for the same links, but a full metal bracelet on a 53.4mm-wide case is still a lot of metal, and the watch weighs 128 grams. Nearly double the PRG-270, and not something you forget is there.
The case shoulders are resin and stainless steel around multiple round pushers; there is no crown because there is nothing to wind. The crystal is mineral glass, not sapphire. The money went into the rating and the radio, not the glass.
Set by a tower
Multi-Band 6 picks up one of six standard time signals, in Japan, China, North America, the UK and Germany, and corrects the watch overnight. Once it has locked on, the displayed time is as accurate as the broadcast, which is very.
Tough Solar charges the cell from any light, so the only maintenance is keeping it out of a drawer. The display is entirely digital: day, date and time in large characters, with a red N and a degree scale printed on the bezel ring for the compass.
