The Kamasu was Orient’s update to its long-running Mako and Ray divers, and the headline change was the crystal. Where those watches used mineral glass, the Kamasu has flat sapphire. At this price that is still unusual, and it is the single spec that moved the watch to the top of the budget-diver shortlist.
The rest of the case is what you would hope for at 200m: a screw-down crown at 3 without guards, a screw-down caseback, and a 120-click unidirectional bezel with a black insert and a dotted minute track between bold numerals.
The F6922
Orient makes its own movements. The F6922 is the in-house automatic inside the Kamasu: 22 jewels, 21,600 vibrations per hour, a stated 40-hour reserve, and both hand-winding and hacking, so it can be wound from the crown and set to the second.
It carries a day and a date in one window at 3 o’clock. The larger Kamasu and the smaller Mako 40 on this site share the same design language but not the same caliber; the F6922 is the Kamasu’s.
12.8mm of diver
The case is 41.8mm across, 12.8mm thick and 46.8mm lug to lug in brushed and polished steel, on a solid-link bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp. Those numbers are a proper tool diver, not a slim sports watch. It wears with presence.
